1.1.3Vision, Mission and Key Objectives

National Institute of Technology Calicut is an Institution of National Importance established under NITSER Act 2007 and it is under the financial and administrative control of Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India. The function of the Institute can be obtained from NITSER Act 2007 and the National Institute of Technology Calicut Statutes, 2017 which can be accessed here.

Vision: International standing of the highest calibre.

Mission: To develop high quality technical education and personnel with a sound footing on basic engineering principles, technical and managerial skills, innovative research capabilities, and exemplary professional conduct to lead and to use technology for the progress of mankind, adapting themselves to changing technological environment with the highest ethical values as the inner strength.

National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) is actively involved in diverse areas of research and offers consultancy services to industry.

The Annual Report is prepared under the direction of BoG. The annual report of the institute, along with the audited accounts, are placed on the tables of both Houses of Parliament.

If a complaint has to be filed, the person can file it directly with the concerned authority. The authority will promptly take the necessary action.
Also, in pursuance to the new regulation of the University Grants Commission, New Delhi (UGC) to install an online system to Lodge Complaints against the instances of Caste Based Discrimination, an online portal has been developed for the use of students/faculty/Non-teaching staff of the Institute. They may register their grievances and concerns regarding SC/ST/OBC discrimination and any kind of caste related injustice online, so as to avail proper solutions for the inconveniences they had experienced.
The portal provides a platform for the authorities to curb caste-based discrimination at the Institute, hence maintaining an environment of social equality. Click here to lodge a complaint.

How to file RTI application?
Online Mode
Visit https://rtionline.gov.in  and follow the instructions provided therein. User manual and online payment facility are available in this portal.

Physical Mode
Download the Application (doc, pdf) and send the duly-filled application along with the application fee of Rs.10/-.
The application has to be sent to The Public Information Officer, National Institute of Technology Calicut, NIT Campus P.O., Kozhikode, Kerala-673601.

RTI-Application Fee
Payment of Application Fee (for physical mode)
The application fee of Rs.10/- in the form of Demand Draft or Bankers Cheque or Indian Postal Order drawn in favour of The Director, NIT Calicut.
Application fee can be remitted directly at the Counter available at Accounts Section under the Head RTI-Application Fee and the receipt has to be attached together with the RTI Application.
If the applicant belongs to below poverty line (BPL) category, he is not required to pay any fee. However, he should submit a proof in support of his claim for belonging to the below poverty line.
Court Stamps and any other mode of payments are not acceptable.
